The best AI music generators in 2026 are Suno for complete songs with vocals, AIVA for instrumental and soundtrack-style compositions with clearer licensing, and Udio for high-quality generation within its platform. The big change this year is licensing: after settlements with major record labels, Udio disabled downloads and Suno is moving to licensed models, so check the rules before using AI music commercially.

The Top AI Music Generators
Suno
Suno creates complete songs, including lyrics and vocals, from a text prompt. After its settlement with Warner Music Group, Suno announced plans to launch licensed models in 2026 and introduce download rules tied to paid accounts. Litigation with other labels continues.
AIVA
AIVA focuses on instrumental composition, such as soundtracks, ambient, and classical styles, and offers plans that grant ownership rights, which makes it popular for video and game creators.
Udio
Udio generates high-quality music, but since its settlement with Universal Music Group it has disabled downloads, so creations stay inside the platform. A fully licensed version with downloads was expected in 2026 but had not launched as of mid-2026.
Using AI Music Commercially
- Read the current license for your plan; terms have changed significantly after the label settlements.
- Keep records of when and how each track was generated.
- Avoid imitating specific artists or using their names in prompts.
- For business video, a licensed stock music library may still be the lowest-risk option.
